Panzura Rolls Out Symphony for Data Management, Streamlines Risk and Compliance

Cloud data management firm Panzura has launched Panzura Symphony, a data services platform designed to manage unstructured data in the enterprise.

Features and Capabilities

The company says Symphony offers automated, exabyte-scale data discovery and assessment, and dynamic data movement orchestration for enterprise customers. It provides specialized, policy-driven data management capabilities to support risk and compliance across diverse data environments and industries.

The Symphony platform gives organizations visibility and control over their data, which is a requirement for successful digital transformation initiatives. Industry research firm IDC recently reported that unstructured data is swelling by 62% each year.

Vendor-Certified Data Operations

Symphony offers customers comprehensive vendor-certified data operations within a unified interface, supporting file system deployments and protocols, and on-premises and hybrid cloud object storage workload with AWS, Azure, IBM, and others.

Integration and Complement to Existing Solutions

The company says Panzura Symphony builds on its recent acquisition of Moonwalk Universal and complements Panzura’s flagship file data management solution CloudFS. Panzura CEO Dan Waldschmidt said in an official statement, “Panzura Symphony brings together proven technology and Panzura’s future vision where data management meets strategy for business success.”

According to the statement, Symphony will change the way both ITOps and DevOps teams interact with unstructured data. It can contribute to operational cost savings and reduce cloud storage consumption, and help customers avoid vendor lock with cloud providers and hardware.

Data Governance and Management

Panzura Symphony’s core capabilities enable simplified, policy-driven data governance with insights and reporting on data usage and file types. It streamlines data movement and integrates with AI and DevOps workflows. It is also said to manage data with precision, providing control at various levels to meet each customer’s specific requirements around data placement, transformation, and restructuring .

Support for AI Workflows

The platform supports AI workflows and common formats for quicker data analysis. Panzura says Symphony is datatype-sensitive, which is useful for AI pipeline support from data collection through to model deployment.

Panzura points out features like the ability to aggregate and report on storage consumption for departmental chargebacks. It provides a RESTful application programming interface (API) for integration with existing control, workflow, automation, and billing systems.

The company says data stewards in line-of-business roles such as Data Governance Officers, Risk and Compliance Managers, Information Security Officers, Business Analysts, and other business leaders can use the platform to ensure data-administration practices meet regulatory requirements.

Automated Data Management for Compliance

Due to the imposition of increasingly complex data control, privacy, and chain of custody regulations, organizations are looking to avoid significant financial penalties for improper data handling.

They can use Symphony to comply with regulatory schemes by automatically managing data from collection to disposal, including retention and migration. The platform can be utilized to establish and modifydata management policies to ensure transparent and automatic enforcement. For instance, they can route digital assets to the correct location and isolate certain types of data.

Enhanced Data Visibility and Risk Assessment

The company stated that Symphony can scan billions of files each day, providing visibility into data demographics. The platform can be used to conduct risk assessments and audits, helping to maintainrequired documentation, and generate detailed, sharableand exportable reports.

Additionally, the platform allows DevOps teams to manage large amounts of unstructured data with less friction through automation and integration capabilities via webhooks, APIs, post-run actions, and relational databases.

Conclusion and Expert Opinion

“Panzura Symphony helps organizations navigate blind spots within expanding data estates,”said Sundar Kanthadai, Panzura’s chief technology officer. He said the platform can scale into every corner of a customer’s unstructured data footprint.
